Good tune. I suggest you to work on the overall melodics in your tunes following the right scale, in this one there's not really much scale issues involved in the tones being wrong, but rather being a bit fixated around a certain part of a scale. I advice you to further find out the scale you're composing a tune in, to find that you can make melodies with the full range of the scale, using higher notes in the scale as well as the lower notes around the finalis or ground tone. Basicly, modern western music uses the scales Minor (from any tone, in semitones: +0 +2 +3 +5 +7 +8 +10 +12) and Major (from any tone, in semitones: +0 +2 +4 +5 +7 +9 +11 +12). Any of these notes have a certain "bound to fit" tuning to them already found out by Pythagoras. There are more scales, basicly these consist of different shifts between semitones. I expect you to put the piano melodies to upwards, maybe together in combination with notes that are +3 or +4 or +5 positions in scale, maybe even an octave and +3 or +4 or +5 positions. Experiment more on trying to put "free-style" notes within scale with your original melody, and remove them if they don't fit, and try on. You will find much more active feeling derived from your music when the melodies are more spread throughout the scales. A tune that has (varied) melodies below as well as above the ground tone seems to be more dynamic. The mastering and sounds chosen in this track are very nice, nothing to say about them. The track sounds still a bit static as in unvaried. Good sound though, fat mixing, the kick is a little low somehow, I hear now, try adding a more present nice short "pok" with it in the mid, selective low mid and mid high EQed. Structure of the beats/breaks/instrumental is quite attractive already, makes this absolutely worth the 8.5. (Posted on: 2009-09-04 11:42:36)
